Nate Sorensen Obituary

Nate Sorensen (affectionately known as "Nate Dogg"), 41, of Burlington, died at 4:08 PM Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

Born September 30, 1979, in Mount Pleasant, IA, he was the son of Andrew Sorensen and Tina Cochenour. 

He graduated from Burlington High School in 1998. 

Nate was the manager at Gasland on 8th Street.

He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Florida State football and the Greenbay Packers. Nate enjoyed shooting darts, watching most sports and playing baseball.

Survivors include his  daughter, Alexis Nicole Sorensen of Burlington; granddaughter, Everleigh Sorensen;  father, Andrew Sorensen of Burlington; mother, Tina (Bill) Leibli of Burlington; sister, Alisen (Kaid) Gonzalez of Burlington; nephew, Cruz Gonazalez of Burlington; 2 uncles, Roy (Darla) Cochenour of Danville, John Sorensen of Burlington; aunt, Jenny (Greg) Hoffer of West Burlington; three cousins, Sammy (Sam) Newkirk of West Burlington, Gunnar Hoffer of West Burlington, Teresa Sorensen of Burlington; and his girlfriend, Karen Fink.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

A celebration of life dart tournament for Nate will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 30, 2021, at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Burlington Aerie #150.

A memorial has been established for his granddaughter, Everleigh.
