Noel Anthony Carroll Jr., 67, of Burlington, died Saturday, July 30, 2016, at his home in Burlington, Iowa.

Born February 5, 1949, in Atlanta City, NJ, he was the son of Noel Anthony and Leona CarlsonCarroll. On July 19, 1975, he married Beverly Lowe in Santa Monica, CA.

Noel worked on the Board of Equalization for the State of California.

Noel was a kind and gentle man, a loving husband, a great father, and an amazing grandfather. Growing up he loved sports and was an outstanding athlete.  He played baseball, basketball, and he was mostly known for his accomplishments in track and field.  He set multiple records for track and field at Santa Monica Community College.  He lived life to the fullest because he loved Jesus and found joy in the simple everyday miracles and moments of life.  He loved taking drives with his wife, admiring the beauty of God’s creation while driving through the scenic countryside.  He loved to laugh, enjoy good times, and tell jokes. He always thought his jokes were funny, especially the ones he made up.  Spending time with the people he loved brought him so much joy.  Every time the kids and grandkids would visit he would light up.  The love he shared with others he drew out of the well of his relationship with Jesus.  He loved others well because he knew how much God loved him.  That is why reading the Bible was one of his favorite things to do.  He would share scriptures and words of encouragement with anyone he came in contact with. The joy of the Lord was his strength because even when his health was fading and he didn’t seem to have any strength left, he would be found at church on Sunday morning praising God.  He always loved listening to worship music because he learned what it meant to praise God no matter what the circumstance.  Noel was the most positive person I ever knew.  He had an undying optimism, always seeing the best in people and in situations.  Noel’s life was a gift from God and this world is a better place because of a man named Noel Carroll Jr.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona and only brother, Jim Salvador.

Noel is survived by his father, Noel Anthony Carroll of Los Angeles, CA, wife Beverly Jean Carroll of Burlington, IA, sons Todd (Monica) Carroll of Council Bluffs, IA,  Jonathan (Deborah) Carroll of Anchorage, AK, and Andrew (Chrissy) Carroll of Oxnard, CA, nine grandchildren, Tristan, Logan Joy, Jubilee, Krista, Aiden, Simon, Kieran and Eden Carroll, sister, Linda Tate of Los Angeles, CA, and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
