Norma C. Tomey

Norma C. Tomey, 85, of Burlington, died at 4:30 pm Friday, February 19, 2021, at her home in Burlington.

Born March 14, 1935, in West Point, IA, she was the daughter of Claude and Clio Pickett Rouse. In 1982 she married Gene Tomey in West Burlington. He later passed in 2000. After his passing, she spent many years with her special friend, Harry Thompson.

She was a 1953 graduate of Fort Madison High School.

She worked for Shaffer Penn after high school, and then worked for Champion Spark Plug company for over 30 years.

She was a sweet woman, who loved her family, with a soft spot for her grandson Jake, who was the apple of her eye. She enjoyed rooting for the Green Bay Packers, or drinking a Busch Light while shooting for her pool or dart league. She was a faithful woman, and in her downtime, liked to cross stitch, play bingo, or simply socialize with friends and family.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Graham of Burlington; one grandson, Jacob Graham of Burlington; one step-daughter Kory Tomey of MI; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by Harry Thompson, her parents, and her siblings, Pauline, Lorene, Genevieve, Geneva, and Norman.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Per the families wishes, there will be no visitation or services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the American Heart Association, or the American Parkinson Foundation.
