Patricia Jo Guzman

Patricia Jo Guzman passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024 in her home surrounded by family.  She was 68 years old.

Patricia was born September 6, 1955 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Caracci and Carmen (Puga) Guzman.  Patricia worked for the Burlington Medical Center and the Great River Medical Center for over 30 years and retired in 2018.  She enjoyed taking her children fishing when she was young and as she got older loved going on walks and taking her grandchildren to the Dairy Queen. She loved her peanut buster parfaits. She loved her pets throughout the years and enjoyed the presence of any animals. She saw the beauty in all things and always had a laid back energy and advised her loved ones to never worry.  She had a deep faith and love of God. Things have a way of working out. She was the Mama Pat of all her children’s friends and mothered more than just her own children. Patricia’s kindness and compassion was one of a kind and her legacy will live on through all those who love her.

Patricia’s family include her children, Aaron (Cassandra) Lefler and Michele Beard; thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Connie) Guzman, Johnny Guzman, Daniel (Deb) Guzman, Vickie (Dennis) Guzman, Barbara Frerichs and Brenda Guzman; and many nieces and nephews.  Sadly, Patricia is preceded in death by her son, Jeremy Lefler; grandson, Austin; parents, Caracci and Carmen; and several beloved nephews.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Prugh Funeral Service.

Patricia’s family will receive guests for visitation on Friday, January 26th, from 12 -7 pm with family receiving friends from 4-7 pm at the Prugh Funeral Service (3940 Division Street, Burlington).

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Des Moines County Humane Society.
