Patsy Kay Hamilton, 78, of Burlington, died at 9:43 AM Friday, January 8, 2021, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born June 12, 1942, in Fairfield, IA, she was the daughter of Ova Burnett and Myrtle Paris Burnett-Anders. On October 29, 1961, she married Charles R. Varboncoeur in Fort Madison. They later divorced. On July 10, 2004, she married Charles "Chuck" D. Hamilton at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Burlington. He died on October 4, 2020.
Patsy worked for many years as a Licensed Social Worker in long-term care.
She was a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant (Magna Cum Laude); she received her Master's Degree in Gerontology from Western Illinois University, in Macomb, IL.
Patsy was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She enjoyed decorating her home, baking, music, reading, and had a profound love of poodles; especially a special poodle, named Mindy Boo.
Survivors include one son, Jeffrey (Lydia) Varboncoeur of Fairmont, MN, one granddaughter, Josée; one nephew, Gregory Wirsig; and one grand-niece, Kasey Kirchner.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Leo Thomas Burnett, Harold Burnett and Charles Burnett; two sisters, Lela Winters and Bettye Wirsig.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
There will be no visitation or services at this time. Burial will be held in Biggsville Cemetery at a later date.
