Paul Edward Hacker, age 65 passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at his home in Austin, Texas.
Born July 2, 1955 in Burlington, Iowa to George Edward and Mary Frances (Eversman) Hacker.
He attended school in Burlington. After completing his education, he worked briefly at General Electric, J.I. Case and Olson Roofing before moving to Austin in 1979. There he worked in the roofing industry, eventually starting his own roofing repair business up to the time of his death.
He married Evie Magee in 1986 in Austin. They later divorced, but his greatest pride and joy was raising her son Travis.
He was a kind, big hearted person who lived life to its fullest. He had a unique outlook on life and took any setback in stride and was always looking on the bright side of things. Paul easily made friends and was always quick to strike up a conversation with anyone. He would say, "I can get along with anyone if they want to get along with me." He enjoyed his Harley, was a diehard Chicago Bears fan, followed the Iowa Hawkeyes and Texas Longhorns but he especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Paul is survived by his son Travis (Jenna) Magee; granddaughter, Laurelai Avery Magee of Liberty Hill, Texas; one brother Alan (Betty) Hacker of Burlington, Iowa; nieces, nephews, cousins and many very special friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and sister, Lois (Hacker) Martin.
Heart of Texas Cremations is in care cremation.
A celebration of Life will be held for Paul on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM at The Drake Restaurant in Burlington, hosted by his family.
