Phillip Larry Clem, 80, of West Burlington, died at 12:21 PM Thursday, April 22, 2021, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born January 7, 1941, in Milan, MO, he was the son of John Cantril and Betty Frances Hodge Clem.
He worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant.
He was a 1958 graduate of San Juan High School in Citrus Heights, CA. He attended the University of Iowa.
Phillip loved sports; he lived for the University of Iowa football team and sports programs. He was proud of his adopted niece Katie Boney, for playing softball at the University of Iowa. He also liked to read books about the Civil War and Revolutionary War. He was known to family and friends as the best gift buyer ever. He liked to collect things and search for collectibles on Ebay. He was a regular diner at the All Star Maid Rite. During the 30 years he was a patron there, many of the staff became like family to him, especially Michelle Cox and Johnna Latty. Most of all, he loved his kids and grandkids and the time he spent with them.
Survivors include his daughter, Mona Michelle Clem; son, Michael Patrick Clem; three grandchildren, Sammy Jo, Curry, and John (Abby) Clem; one great-grandchild and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Beverly Reusch.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
