Raymond A. Swenson, 82, of Burlington, died at 9:07 AM Saturday, April 10, 2021, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born March 26, 1939, in Texas, he was the son of Victor and Dorothy Erickson Swenson. On May 4, 1971, he married Nancy Grahl in Kahoka, MO. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Raymond worked for the Des Moines County Abstract and Title Company for 46 years as an abstractor.
He enjoyed spending his time outside and could often be found fishing, golfing, or working in the yard. He also liked to go to auctions, work on woodworking projects, read books, do puzzles and go bowling.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy of Burlington; two sons, Mark (Sandra) Marshall of West Des Moines, IA, and Michael (Debbie) Marshall of Stockton, MO; six grandchildren: Tara, Anthony, Michelle, Christopher, Andrew and Nicholas; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sharon (David) Sink of Portland, OR, and Karen Reed of Lincoln City, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers-in-law, Larry Clark and Doug Reed.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
The memorial service for Mr. Swenson will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorials have been established for the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center and the Iowa Donor Network.
