Renee (Vandiver) Denning

Renee Suzanne Vandiver Denning, 75, of Burlington, died Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born October 14, 1949, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Darrel Grant and Mary Louise McClinton Vandiver. On June 6, 1969, she married James Anthony Denning in Burlington. Together they had two children before they divorced.  

She was a 1967 graduate of Burlington High School. She then attended the Burlington Hair Academy.  

Renee worked as a hairdresser for many years. She also worked as CNA and ward clerk at Mercy Hospital. 

She enjoyed raising and caring for her dachshunds. Renee liked to cook and loved her family. 

Survivors include her son, Mike (Jessica) Denning of Cedar Rapids; two granddaughters, Ashley Smith and Jennifer Smith both of Denmark; family friend, Tom (Cindy) Smith, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, son, Joseph Denning. 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Denning will be 10:00 AM Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. 

A memorial has been established.
