Robert P. Brookhart

Robert P. Brookhart, 69, of Burlington, lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington surrounded by his family.

Born February 19, 1954, in Keokuk, he was the son of Noel Wayne and Elizabeth Beatrice Bourgeois Brookhart. On August 4, 1974, he married Cynthia White in Media, IL. 

Rob graduated in 1972 from Wyaconda High School. 

He worked in the baking industry for 50 years. He started working at Sweetheart Bakery then became Director of Bakery Operations with Aldi, Inc for 28 years. He later became President of Bakers Pride, Inc and continued his career as General Manager of Baking in West Burlington. He retired in May of 2022. 

Rob was a member of Wyaconda Baptist Church and the American Society of Baking. One of his greatest joys was tending to his yard and landscaping. He loved attending sporting events for his children and grandchildren and going out to eat with his wife and close friends. 

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Cindee Brookhart; two daughters, Amber Brookhart of Chicago, IL and Audra (Mike) Baker of Burlington; son, Aaron Brookhart of St. Louis, MO; two brothers, Kenneth Brookhart of CT and Loyd (Tina) Brookhart of Kahoka, MO; sister, Betty Knupp of Wyaconda, MO; three grandchildren, Owen, Gavin and Emersyn Baker of Burlington; brother-in-law, Jeff (Theresa) White of Rochelle, IL; sister-in-law, Debbie (James) Grohs of Galesburg, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Noel Wayne and Elizabeth Brookhart, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Charles and Audrey White, sister-in-law, Marjorie Brookhart, and brother-in-law, Cliff Knupp. 

Visitation will be from noon until 5:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

The funeral service for Mr. Brookhart will be 1:00 PM Monday, March 20, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Media, Illinois. 

A memorial has been established for the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.
