Roberto Renteria

Roberto "Beto" Renteria, Sr., 72, of Burlington, died at 1:10 PM January 21, 2021 at Savannah Heights in Mt. Pleasant. 

He was born September 2, 1948 in Mexico. He was the son of Nicolas Renteria Arambula and Rosenda Ceniceros Castañeda. 

Beto had a tree cutting and roofing business for many years. He was a hard-working, jack-of-all-trades who was always working on a project. He enjoyed boxing, playing pool and going to the rodeo. Beto loved animals, especially his dogs. He liked to watch nature shows, comedies, and rodeos on TV, listening to music and working on cars. 

Survivors include one daughter, Adriana (Richard) Van Dusseldorp of Pella, IA; two sons, Roberto (Brooke) Renteria, Jr. of West Burlington and Beto Miguel Renteria of Iowa City; two grandsons, Matayo and Mayson; one granddaughter, Maliya; two brothers, Gustavo Renteria of West Burlington and Ruben (Patsy) Renteria of Burlington; one sister, Estella Avery of Burlington; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, five brothers and his life partner, Patricia Brobston. 

The funeral service for Beto will be 2:00 PM Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Father Michael Phillips officiating. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory following the funeral. The graveside service will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 29, 2021 in Sacred Heart Cemetery.  

Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and the Des Moines County Humane Society.
