Ronald Lee Casey, 80, of Oquawka, died Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at his home.
Born November 15, 1941, in Aurora , IL, he was the son of Levi Thomas and June Eileen Meyer Casey. On February 6, 1963, he married Bonnie M. Lyerla in Aurora, IL. Bonnie passed on September 26, 2013.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Rushmore from January 12, 1959 until November 28, 1962.
Ronald worked for Maytag for over 30 years until his retirement. He later owned and operated "Little Brothers Place" in Oquawka, Illinois with his wife.
Ronnie was a member of the First Christian Church in Keithsburg, Illinois. He volunteered for the Oquawka Fire Department driving the Ambulance. He loved to travel, fish, camp, and his pets. He was the kind of man that knew no strangers and would give the shirt off of his back to help anyone. He especially loved visiting with family and spending time with them. The yearly family reunion was very important to him and he would always volunteer to help in anyway.
Survivors include two sons, Billy (Marie) Casey of Roscoe, IL, and Matthew (Michelle) Casey of Dexter, IA; two daughters, Tammy (Mike) Knapp of Joy, IL, and Shawna (Abe) Weeks of Keithsburg, IL; 10 grandchildren, Andy (Ashley), Bethany, Tim (Beth), Danielle (Nathaniel), Adam (Morgan), Nick (Kris), Kerstin, Alexandria, Jessica, and Kristine: 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Bud (Carol) Casey of Oquawka, IL; and sister-in-law, Wanda Casey of Oquawka, IL.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Lee Casey; three brothers Joseph, Larry, and Terry; two sisters Ramona (Richard) Wilson, and Gwen (Bill) Forrester.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM with the family to receive friends on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at First Christian Church in Keithsburg, IL.
The funeral service for Mr. Casey will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 20, 2022, at First Christian Church in Keithburg, IL. Burial will be in Oquawka Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered by the Monmouth Legion #136. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Mamas Place in Oquawka, IL following the burial.
