Ronald "Ronnie" Boyd Obituary

Ronald "Ronnie" D Boyd, 79, of West Burlington, died at 11:25 pm Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born October 11, 1941, at his home in Bonaparte, IA, he was the son of Harl Wesley and Marvel Lenora Cole Boyd. On November 7, 1997, he married Peggy  Luther in Las Vegas.

In his younger years, he worked for Archer Motors, and the Soap Factory. He then went on the Case Co., where after 20 plus years took an early retirement at 50 to become a general contractor.

He led a simple life, and was always hard at work, helping his dad with large projects such as building all of the roads for the Y Camp. He was very proud of obtaining his diving license and his pilots license, which he would use hand in hand to fly himself to many locations around the world to go SCUBA diving. He loved to both water ski and snow ski, and was infamous for bare foot water skiing on the Mississippi. One of his other points of pride was on one particular New Years day, he put on his wetsuit and went skiing on the river. He was always driven to accomplish things, and that was reflected in his life as a general contractor building several houses, and remodeling some as well. Most of all, he loved his family.

Survivors include wife, Peggy Boyd of West Burlington, IA; five children, Randy (Malinda) Boyd of West Branch, IA, Julie (Kim) Petersen of NE, Rodney (Kelly) Boyd of Phoenix, AZ, Troy (Melissa) Boyd of Cordova, IA, and  Wesley (Lisa) Boyd of Otley, IA; four step-sons, Michael (Tammy) Forseen of Mount Pleasant, IA, Scott Farris of Washington, IA, Joe (Jill) Farris of Keokuk, IA, and Bobby (Jamie) Forseen of Mount Pleasant, IA; one brother, Merlin Boyd of Lovelin, CO; three sisters, Barbara Taylor of Dallas City, IA, Donna McCarty of Fort Madison, IA, and Karen Schnedler of Keosaqua, IA; 25 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
