Russell Joe Harris

Russell Joe Harris, 62, of Burlington, died Monday, August 19, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

Born June 18, 1962, in Burlington Iowa, Russ was the son of Robert and Dana (Alter) Harris.

Russ enjoyed being outdoors, whether that was bird watching, riding his scooter or just relaxing.  He liked woodworking and would make beautiful pieces for his family.  He never passed up an opportunity to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play.  He loved his family; his daughter and granddaughter meant the world to him.  He loved spending time with Sandler and riding bikes with her around the neighborhood.  Russ' kindness will be missed, but his memory will live on through his family and friends.

Russ' family include his daughter, Samantha Harris; siblings, Pam (Jim) Lowry, Rick Harris, Randy (Michelle) Harris, Lori (Doug) Coakley and Ryan (Misty) Harris; granddaughter, Sandler; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Sadly, he has been preceded in death by his sister, Connie Vaughan; and parents, Robert and Dana.

A graveside service for Russ will be held at 10 am on Saturday, August 31st at the Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery (10993 115th Ave., Burlington).  A Celebration of Life for Russ will be held at a later date.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Des Moines County Humane Society.
