Sally Jo Hamilton, 89, of West Burlington, died Sunday, December 31, 2023, at her home.
Born September 9, 1934, in Kalona, IA, she was the daughter of Albert and Alice Kos Stumpf. On March 11, 1957, she married Peter Hamilton in Kahoka, Missouri.
Family was a large part of Sally's life. Nothing compared to her children and grandchildren. When she was not spending time with her family or cooking for them, Sally could be seen out and about searching for treasures at garage sales. Sally was crazy about Elvis, and she also loved her sports. It was no secret, that she was a devoted Hawkeye fan.
Survivors include her son, Brad (Shelly) Hamilton of Burlington, IA; daughters, Tara Hamilton of Ottumwa, IA, and Amy Hamilton of West Burlington, IA; grandchildren, Amber, Jordan, Shannon, Eric, Peter, Jacob, Jonah, Emma, Courtney, and Kyla; great-grandchildren, Onyx, Finn, Eli, Juniper, Oliver, Charlotte, Dakota, Aleah, and Jayden; siblings, Lola Hogan, Barbara Stickler, Phyllis "Jean" Westerbeck, and Judy (Vere) Allen; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Margaret Simpson, Wilma Stumpf, Helen Patton, Lorraine Horn, Edwin Stumpf, Mary Ann Mellinger, Patricia Beranek, Robert Stumpf, and Diane Spicher.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM Saturday, January 13, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The memorial service for Mrs. Hamilton will be 12:00 PM Saturday, January 13, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street with Fr. Dominic Nguyen Officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for St. Jude Children's Hospital, and Divine Mercy Parish.
