Sharon Joann (Hull) Stewart

Sharon Joann Stewart, 77, of Burlington, died at 6:59 pm Monday, August 23, 2021, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born September 18, 1943, in Ft Madison, she was the eldest of eleven children born to Tom and Evelyn Queisner Hull. She married Asa Binkley Jr. in October of 1963 with whom she had three children. They later divorced. On January 18, 1990, she married David LeRoy Stewart in Burlington. He passed on March 2, 2021.

Following high school graduation, she attended Burlington Business School and was a legal secretary for many years, working for different firms, but spending most of her time in the Hoth Building.

Sharon always had a smile on her face with earrings and lipstick to match. She was always sociable, and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She was very strong in her faith, and incredibly smart. She loved traveling and going to antique shops and flea markets with Dave. She enjoyed fishing, and playing cards and dominoes with friends, and loved to host. Most of all she loved her family, known for her wonderful potato salad, and famous pancakes. She was a gifted seamstress, making Barbie Doll clothes, helping her sisters with their wedding dresses, and teaching her daughters to sew. Sharon always passionately supported her family, whether it be with Lori's move to New York, Lana starting her business, or being by her grandchildren's sides when they went to college. She also loved all animals.

Survivors include two daughters, Lori (Pat Gerst) Wilson and Lana (Lyle) Polson both of Burlington; one grandson, Jacob (Ali Mulvey) Polson of Burlington; one granddaughter, Jessica Polson of Ft Madison, IA; two great-grandchildren, Lucas Stoddard, and Jayli Polson; nine siblings, Marge (Delbert) Groene of Temple Terrace, FL, Rob (Nancy) Hull of Burlington, Tom (Vickie) Hull of Burlington, Dan Hull of Augusta, IA, Beth (John) Myers of Burlington, Elaine (Keith) Johnson of Burlington, Stanley (Kim) Hull of Burlington, Valerie (Lance) Vennard of Burlington, Diane (Steve) O'Brien of MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Sue Hull, and one infant son, Jeffery Dallas Binkley.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
