Shelly Lynn McIlhenny

Shelly Lynn McIlhenny, 58, of West Burlington, died at 12:40 PM Saturday, March 13, 2021, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born March 10, 1963, in Centerville, IA, she was the daughter of Leslie Paul Sweeden and Beverly Thomson. 

She graduated from Burlington High School in 1981, and from Ashford University in 2013.

Shelly worked in technical services at Winegard, and also bartended at Burlington Gymnastics Society since 2013.

She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan. Shelly was very social and loved spending time with her friends and family; especially her granddaughters.

Survivors include her mother, Beverly Thomson; one daughter, Bailey Brockman of Keokuk; one son, Andrew McIlhenny of Burlington; two grandchildren, Memphis and Mila; two brothers, Marty Sweeden and Jamey Sweeden both of Burlington; one niece, Josey Sweeden; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John & Orpha Atkinson, and paternal grandparents, Paul  & Faye Sweeden.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The memorial service for Shelly will be 1:00 PM Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at the Eagles Club following the service. 

A memorial has been established.
