Sheron L Kemp

Sheron L. Kemp, 83, of Burlington, died at 10:24 PM Friday, September 24, 2021, at her home.

Born September 9, 1938, in Illinois, she was the daughter of Clarence Edwin and Thelma Mae Rickles Thacker. On August 18, 1957, she married Ralph V. Kemp. He passed January 9, 2019.

She graduated from Gladstone-Oquawka High School. 

Sheron worked for the City of Burlington as a Meter Maid, then for Sylvania and the Gypson Plant. The majority of her career, she worked for Burlington Medical Center in SPD until her retirement in 2001.

Sheron loved the holidays, from decorating to baking her award winning Milky Way cookies. When she wasn't watching NASCAR, she could be found reading a good book, going to lunch with her friends or watching the hummingbirds in her yard. But most of all, she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. 

Survivors include her three daughters, Terri (Mike Overhake) Goble of Burlington, Sherri (Tim) Peterson of WI, and Brenda Boyd of Burlington; eight grandchildren: Jason (Tyson), Danielle (Sean), Jenilee (Rich), Derek (Marlis), Tyler (Ashley), Justin (Bethany), Brittney (Jake), and Brandon (Adrian); 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way; three sister-in-laws, Janet (Bill) Sly, Linda Magnuson, and Jo Postin; and one brother-in-law, Wendell (Diane) Covert.

Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, dog Lily, brother Clyde, three brother-in-laws, one sister-in-law and her In-Laws.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM with the family to receive friends Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Mrs. Kemp will be 10:30 AM Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oquawka Cemetery.  A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the burial.

A memorial has been established.
