Stephen Ross Wasson, 67, of Burlington, died at 2:56 pm Thursday, May 13, 2021, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born September 22, 1953, in Burlington, he was the son of John Robert and Betsy Ross Turnbough Wasson. On June 9, 1973, he married Sandy Gerst in Burlington.
He worked as an electrician for the BNSF Railroad for 37 years.
He was a quiet and gentle man. He was a lover of electronics, always tinkering with whatever he could, and was a HAM radio operator. He loved classic TV, especially Sci-Fi movies and TV shows, and old kung fu movies. He was a true outdoorsmen, and was passionate about firearms holding a long time membership at the Big Hollow Shooting Complex. Most of all, he loved his family and his grandsons, and his son's dogs, Lulu and Coco.
Survivors include wife, Sandy Wasson of Burlington; two sons, Andy Wasson and Josh Wasson both of Burlington; two grandkids, J.J. and Sam; two sisters, Rennie Wasson of Burlington and Lucretia "Lou" (Donald) Broeg of West Burlington; brother, Buddy Wasson of Burlington, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John Wasson Jr., one sister Nancy Wasson, and one Nephew Jimmy Wasson.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
There will be a celebration of Life for Stephen on May 29, 2021 from 3:00PM until 5:00PM at the Moose Lodge in Burlington; 2529 Mt. Pleasant St., Burlington, IA 52601.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
