Terry R. Downs

Terry R. Downs, 60, of Burlington, died Saturday, May 1, 2021.

Born April 24, 1961, in Burlington, he was the son of Dwight and Shirley Jean Walker Downs. On April 30, 1999, he married Deborah Getz at his mother's home.

Terry worked at Benson Optical downtown, and as a custodian and fork lift driver and Chittenden & Eastman.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, having served in Okinawa. 

Terry enjoyed deer hunting, hunting for morel mushrooms, and working on his jeep. He was on the board for National Alliance for Mental Illness for Great Rivers Area. He was an avid blood platelet & plasma donor and donated many gallons. Terry also enjoyed helping his brother with his mowing company.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Deborah; one son, Brett Alan Downs of Arizona; mother Shirley Jean Greiner of Burlington; one brother, Kurt Downs of Burlington; and one sister, Connie (Allen) Schille of Danville, IA.

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Rick Downs, and step-father, Melvin Greiner.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The memorial service for Mr. Downs will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 10, 2021, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.  Burial will be in North Walker Cemetery at a later date.  

A memorial has been established.
