Terry Heckenberg Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Terry Heckenberg, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Terry peacefully departed this life on February 20, 2024, at his home in Burlington, Iowa. Terry's journey on earth has come to a close, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Born to Karl and Dorothy Heckenberg at Burlington Hospital on October 23, 1943, Terry grew up on his family’s farm in Danville Iowa, where he touched the lives of many with his warm heart and genuine personality.  He graduated from Danville High School in 1961. He later moved to Denver where he served a shortened term for his country in the United States Army National Guard.  Terry spent most of his life in Sales and loved doing that. When Terry wasn’t visiting with friends, you could find him watching old movies or sports, working on a crossword puzzle and most notably spending time with his wife Beverly at home.

Terry was a man of many talents and passions, but perhaps most notably known for his gift of gab and his ability to connect with others. Terry was a great conversationalist who enjoyed spending time with friends. He loved nothing more than engaging in lively discussions with friends and acquaintances, sharing stories, and making meaningful connections. His charismatic personality and genuine interest in others endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Throughout his life, Terry touched the lives of countless individuals with his warm personality, generosity, and natural charm.

Terry will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 24 years Beverly (Miller) Burlington, IA who was his rock and source of unwavering happiness and support. In addition to his devoted wife, Terry is survived by three sons Marc (Cyndy), Jared (Stephanie), & Ryan (Brittany) Heckenberg of Arvada, CO, his sister Linda Craven of Burlington, IA, seven grandchildren (Terra, Haley, Gage, Hayden, Ally, Henry, Austyn), four great-grandchildren (Taylynn, Ridley, Ryker, Raven) and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He took immense pride in his family and found immeasurable joy in spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Terry, his parents Karl & Dorothy, and his niece Audra.

As we mourn Terry's passing, let us also celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the profound impact he had on those around him. May his soul rest in eternal peace, knowing that he was dearly loved, will never be forgotten and that his legacy continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

As per Terry’s wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. No visitation will be held, and inurnment will be at a later date shared between his wife Beverly and spread through the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
