Tony Lee Dideriksen, 73, of Burlington, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on January 14, 1951, in Burlington, Tony was the son of Orville "Okie" and Hazel (Dodd) Dideriksen. Tony graduated from Burlington Community Schools in 1969. A couple of years after graduating, Tony enlisted in the United States Armed Forces. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1976, completing two tours aboard the USS Enterprise. After his military service, Tony devoted his career to plumbing and pipefitting, becoming a respected member of U.A. Local 125.
Tony will be remembered as a man who was known for his generosity, warmth, and unwavering kindness, which had a profound impact on many lives. When he wasn’t working, he cherished spending his time with family and friends, whether it was at gatherings, golf outings, or enjoying visits to the casino. Tony took great joy in helping others, from offering rides to an appointment, lending a hand with a project, or providing soothing backrubs that offered comfort and relaxation. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit and the memories he created will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Tony is survived by his siblings, William (Marie) Dideriksen of Waterloo, IA; and Linda (Richard) Rehman of Burlington, IA; sisters-in-law Mary Jane Dideriksen of Florida and Beth Dideriksenof Burlington, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Eric (Tina) Dideriksen, Lisa (Yvette) Dideriksen, Amy (Caryn) Dideriksen, Tom (Kathy) Rehman, David (Ginger) Rehman, Janell (Tracy) Martin, Mirranda (Brian) Krohn, Nicholas (Briley) Dideriksen, Marissa (Alan) Schweinfurth, Jessica (Jeff) Reynolds, Brittany (Brendon) Reynolds, and Bobby (BreAnna) Dideriksen. He also leaves behind dear friends Dustin Walker, Ed Patterson, and Mike Niles, along with many other cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Hazel Dideriksen; his brothers, Larry, Bobby and Mike Dideriksen; and his newphew, Joel Dideriksen.
The Celebration of Life for Tony will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 12:00 PM until 4:30 PM at The Moose Lodge in Burlington.
Cremation has been entrusted to Prugh Crematory. At this time, no services are scheduled.
Memorials in Tony's memory may be made to a local veterans group of the donor's choice.
