Virginia "Ginny" Paula Brown, 96, of Burlington, died at 4:57 AM Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.
Born November 25, 1925, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Arnold and Christine Groene Soethe. On May 4, 1946, she married Roy E. Brown at St. John's Church in Burlington. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1994.
She was a 1943 graduate of St. Paul's High School.
Ginny was a homemaker, worked for Northwestern Bell and was a cook for Saint John's Catholic School.
She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and the St. Michaels and St. Theresa's Circle. Ginny volunteered for many years at St. John's for funeral lunches and the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry. She loved planting flowers, the outdoors, nature, and having lunch with her friends. Ginny especially loved celebrating birthdays with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her two sons, Thomas (Janelle) Brown of Burlington and Timothy (Beth) J. Brown both of Burlington, one daughter, Carol M. Gebhardt of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband of 47 years, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Susan Gonterman, two brothers, one sister, a great-grandchild, and son-in-law, William "Ed" Gebhardt.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Brown will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 2, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Father James Flattery as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at St. John's Cafeteria following the burial.
A memorial has been established for Divine Mercy Parish.
