Wanda M. Buchanan

Wanda M. Buchanan, 94, of Burlington, died Monday, June 13, 2022, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.

Born November 6, 1927, in Osceola, IA, she was the daughter of Claude F and Ethel B Ashby Clark. On October 18, 1947, she married Carl W. Buchanan in Burlington. He died on September 17, 1992.

She was a 1945 graduate of Burlington High School. 

Wanda started work as a clerk at Neissner's, then went to work for Burlington Instrument Co and also tested tubes at Sylvania. Later, she worked as a secretary for Trinity Lutheran Church for 20 years, retiring in 1982. 

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Wanda was also a member of the Mr. & Mrs. Club, the Ruth Zartman Circle and NARFE (National Alliance of Retired Federal Employees). She enjoyed dancing and playing Bridge, which she played in several Bridge Clubs for over 60 yrs. 

Survivors include her son, Randy A. (Muriel) Buchanan of Estes Park, CO; 2 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and her caretaker and friend, Cheryl (Dale) Vickstrom of Burlington.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Juanita Connell.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The Graveside Committal Service for Mrs. Buchanan will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Aspen Grove Cemetery with Reverend Ryan Cosgrove officiating.

A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
