Pearl McKaughan

Pearl McKaughan age 101 passed away March 3, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday July 24, 2021 at Dow Rummel Halladay Peterson Chapel. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, West Wall Lake, rural Hartford, SD.

Pearl McKaughan was born at home January 25, 1920 in Sioux Falls, SD to Roy and Anna (Knutson) Fitzgerald. She grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls.

Pearl was united in marriage to Robert McKaughan April 30, 1940 beginning their 58 years together.

She was a busy homemaker for many years. Later on, she took a job as cashier/credit manager for Daytons, then for Marshall Fields and Macys. She enjoyed doing cross stitching, playing bridge, cooking and was an avid reader. Pearl lived at Dow Rummel for 16 years.

She was a long-time member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Grateful for having shared her life are daughters, Anita Fleming of Burlington, Iowa, Janet Castle of Sioux Falls and her son Thomas McKaughan of Largo, Florida; grandsons Jeff, Christopher, Greg and Michael Jochims, Robert, Scott and April McKaughan; eleven great grandchildren; and her cat of 11 years Christy.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, a sister, a brother and son-in-law.
