Ruth Elaine Timmerman

Ruth Elaine Timmerman, 79, of Mediapolis, died Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born August 19, 1944, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Gaylord Thompson and Goldie Marie Taylor Hollenbeck. On December 17, 1979, she married James Edward Timmerman in Burlington. He died on July 29, 2004.

Ruth worked in the laundry department for Great River Hospital for 10+ years as well as many other jobs in Burlington over the years.

Ruth enjoyed working outdoors; especially mowing her lawn and landscaping. She always had a well kept house and would never let her car go below half tank. She enjoyed spending time with her sister, Carolyn Moser and cousins, Sharon Poggemiller and Burt Prier.

Survivors include her son, Kenneth (Cindy) Huffman of Mediapolis; one step-son, Patrick Timmerman of West Burlington; four grandchildren, Brayden (Cheyenne) Huffman, Drake (Courtenay) Huffman, Jamie Timmerman and Alex Timmerman; one great-grandson, Jameson Huffman and one sister, Carolyn Moser of Kingston.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two step-sons, John and Robert Timmerman, two brothers, Bud and Jim Hollenbeck and one sister, Joyce Lillie.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Prugh's Chapel, 317 North 4th Street. Burial will be in Latty Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established.
