The History of the Prugh Family

In August of 1852 Mr. Isaac Prugh began the Prugh Family business as a manufacturer of fine furniture, coffins, and cabinetry. The Prugh family became known for excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. In 1880, Isaac Prugh passed the family business on to his son, Burton Asbury Prugh. B.A. handed the family business down to his son, Norval Prugh in 1909.  Norval passed the business to his son, Robert Burton Prugh Sr., who handed it down to his son, Robert Burton Prugh Jr.. Burton Jr. worked with his Dad starting in 1971. Burton Jr. passed the business to his daughter, Lindsay (Prugh) Fruehling, in 2015.  Burton continues to be active in the business and enjoys working with his daughter and seeing the family business continue under her guidance .  As one of Burlington's founding families and businesses, the Prugh family takes great pride in it's strong commitment to serving the people of the Burlington, West Burlington, and surrounding communities for six generations.  We feel honored by the families who have placed their trust in us for so many generations.

The Future of Funeral Service in Burlington

On September 1, 2015 Prugh Funeral Service purchased Thielen Funeral Home and merged the staff from the two locations. The staff of Prugh Funeral Service is proud to serve their community  and will continue to provide the best service in Burlington.
